Hi, I am Red Eilenfield.  I have enjoyed over 35 years of teaching a host of subjects to a very diverse population around the world.  It is my pleasure to share with you the experience I've gained in this life's adventures.  As a Cavalry Scout, Attack Helicopter Instructor Pilot, High School Teacher, Sailing Team Coach, Head Instructor of a Community Sailing Center and of course as a husband and parent, I am blessed with a life full and exciting as I ever hoped for.

My family and I lived aboard the Carrie C for over four years.  While there are some aspects of sailing and life on the water that can be enjoyed vicariously, there is no substitute for the real thing.  Sailing is one of the greatest pleasures in my life and one I truly enjoy sharing with others.

While serving as the Director of Operations and the Head Sailing Instructor for the Hampton Roads Community Sailing Center it was my privilege to teach over 950 new sailors in Hampton Roads.  The friendships formed and the on the water camaraderie we enjoy are great motivators to provide  sailing opportunities to you. I was certified as a Basic Keelboat Instructor by the United States Sailing Association, presently hold a USCG OUPV license and maintain current Red Cross CPR and First Aid.

Basic Keeboat programs take place aboard our Catalina 22.  The C22 has been in production since 1969 and is found in greater numbers at marinas around our country than any other production keelboat.  Why do we use the C22?  This boat meets the needs of sailors who don't want to spend all their income on sailing.  They are inexpensive, plentiful, user friendly, trailerable and are easy to learn on.  Every boat ever built is a compromise.  None of them do everything better than all others.  The Catalina 22 fits the niche we occupy.

Basic Cruising programs will take place in the fall of 2009 aboard our Allied Mistress Center Cockpit Ketch, the Carrie C.  The Carrie C has an LOA of 39 ' with a split cabin arrangement separated by a galley/saloon and a walkthrough.  Described by some as "Classic Plastic" the Carrie C has been the perfect liveaboard boat for our family.  Built in 1972 in Catskill NY our baby is American made.  A little over 20,000 lbs she is no racer but that is not what she was designed for.  Comfort with character describe this vessel and we are pleased to be able to share her with you.

Our home is, Wormley Creek Marina in Yorktown, VA. www.wormleycreekmarina.com  A full service marina with great shelter from weather and easy access to our sailing grounds, Wormley Creek Marina is a great stop on the Chesapeake Bay.  Ten minutes in the channel and we are in the York River just off the USCG Yorktown training station. As we leave the marina and turn to port we see the Victory Monument through the tree lined shore as we approach historic Yorktown  and the Coleman bridge beyond which lies the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station.  Turn to starboard leaving the marina and we sail into the Chesapeake bay for cruising adventures as near as Mobjack Bay and Annapolis or as the far as the other side of the world. Come sail with us.
